Thom,
Thank you so much for taking the time. The work that's already occurred is no doubt what excited me so much, and got me looking at downtown in a whole new way. So yes... the plan is transforming the city! Looking forward to seeing the evolution of these plans in person in the coming years. My biggest plea here is to get Lewiston residents downtown and taking advantage of these amazing improvements. Getting residents reconnected to their downtown is vitally important to all the work you are doing. All the best to you.

Thanks so much for reading Lisa. It's sure been a long time since our days at LHS!

Those of us who grew up here know what a safe and friendly city this is. Even with all that unrealized potential, in many ways downtown has never looked better. From the email I've gotten offline... it seems that the city is poised for a big comeback. Nothing washes unfair perceptions away better than renewal.

Hope all is well w/ you!

Paul thank you for taking the time to put these thoughts to paper and sharing them with us "back home".
During the last two years the city has been working on a plan that will hopefully transform our city by bringing to life the ideas and dreams we all share for Lewiston. You are beginning to see these changes as you walk Lisbon Street and certainly Lincoln Street. In the years to come you will see the use of the canals and the Androscoggin River as waterways for recreation and enjoyment. We are teaming with the land trust to unite the upper portions of the river with the part that flows through our cities. You will see more Arts and places for the young and old alike to relax, shop and dine. Around each corner will be a little shop or a cafe and I dream that we may sit by the river and toast our success. This is something that has been begun and I trust our child will inherit and continue the dreams we are all sharing. Thank you again.

Paul, I enjoyed this piece very much. Growing up in Lewiston I felt safe and secure. I have great memories of Lisbon Street shopping excursions with my grandmother and company visiting from Canada. I too am sad to see such potential sitting and waiting...

I also take every opportunity to educate those who spew a negative image of Lewiston.
